Balakrishna’s Parama veera chakra Movie review

Cast : Balakrishna, Amisha Patel, Neha Dhupia, Sheela, Brahmanandam

Director : Dasari Narayana Rao

Music : Mani Sharma

Genre : Action, Comedy, Drama

Releasing date : Jan 12, 2011
Watched at Shanti,Narayanguda

Survi Review: 2/5

After re-writing tollywood records last year with roaring hit “Simha”. Now he teams up with Dasari Narayan Rao for his 150th movie “PARAMAVEERACHAKRA”. Ameesha Patel, Neha Dhupia and Sheela to romance with balaya this time. Mani Sharma scored the music for this prestigious project. Lets us check out the review.

Story:

The story begins with Chakradhar (NBK) who is a noted actor in the Telugu circuit and he gets into the skin of any character he plays. He also has a big fan (sheela) who tries to woo him and is in love with him. However, Chakradhar’s mother (jayasudha) is not interested to see her son doing films and wants him to join the Indian army. The story takes a turn with the arrival of few army officers (murali Mohan and others) who meet Chakradhar and narrate the story of one Major Jayasimha (NBK again). In no time, Chakradhar gets into the skin of Major Jayasimha and changes his approach. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

Balakrishna did justice to his two roles with strong looks and powerful dialogues. Dasari tried to work on a recycled script. Screenplay is simply awful. Direction wise Dasari didn’t changed his style for new generation audience. Dialogs by Dasari were only the best part of his work in this movie. Background score was catchy and two songs were visually good. Cinematography was major plus for the movie, Art department was okay. Ameesha, was okay. Sheela and Neha added the masala required. Editing was sloppiest. Bhramanandam- Ali Robo Parody “Cheddi the robo” was the funniest part of Parama Veera Chakra.

Overall:

Screenplay in the first half is tolerable,  but the director lost grip in the second half. Weak narration, music, Direction were major drawbacks for the movie. Overall, a really bad Dasari Narayana Rao  Movie Worth Skipping.

Bottom Line: Chudali Anukoku .. Thattukolevu .. Madipothav

Movie: Fitting Master
My Rating: 3/5

Music: S Chinna
Cinematography: Prasad Babu
Fights: Ram Lakshma, Vijay
Story, Screenplay, Production, Direction: EVV Satyanarayana
Cast: Allari Naresh, Madalasa Sarma, Shayaji Shinde, Sudha, Chandramohan, Saira Banu etc
Release Date: 14th Jan 2009

Review

Story

Sampath (Allari Naresh) is an orphan who works in a gym center. He hates love between a young man and young girl and keeps on opposing that in public. This catches the attention of an arrogant rich girl Meghna (Madalasa Sharma) who challenges her friends that she could pull him in love and make him a puppet around her. Her attempts fail all the while. Then she falls in his love in real. But still he denies her. Then Meghna takes the help of her brother to convince Sampath. In a surprising incident when Meghna’s brother approaches Sampath, latter kills the former. Why he killed? What are his motives? That forms the rest of the story. It ended up as an age old revenge drama.

Artists Performance:

Allari Naresh didn’t leave his trade mark style of dialogue delivery and instant punches but since the film happened to be a serious flick, the scope for humor is less. But Naresh got a scope to portray seriousness and revenge this time.

Madalasa Sharma is like any other Mumbai girl. She has delivered average performance. She is there for glamour in full dose indeed.

Chandra Mohan and Sudha are there for melodrama and Saira Banu is there for a long pathetic episode. Sayaji Shinde maintained mannerism of singing songs from old films as per situation.

Others are just ok. Music is above average a couple of songs ‘Tappusodara..’, ‘Vennelavo..’ really pleased the ears.

Dialogues by Tadi Balaram and Satish Vegesna are apt and rightly grooved in.

Appearance of lyricist Vanamali before a song in his real-time character is interesting.

EVV has chosen an outdated narration, although the subject is universal.

Final Analysis:

It’s like tasting sour in the name of sweet. The title ‘Fitting Master’ with Allari Naresh in it would obviously give an impression that it is an out and out comedy entertainer. But it is not so. It’s blended with melodrama, weeps, shouts, fights and all sorts of ingredients that a serious film possesses. Although the maker of the movie attempted to give a message to today’s youth those are falling in love and marrying without the consent of parents, the title and expectation didn’t match. It is true that audiences those love to laugh on the occasion of festival will walk into theatres to watch this film. But they will be disappointed for watching a serious movie with scattered comedy.

And it is not a film for Allari Naresh, at this juncture. Although EVV tried to bring an image make over for Naresh, this film didn’t serve the purpose as it’s made with obsolete content.

The film may get some initial mileage in B, C centers but on a whole it cannot be considered a wholesome entertainer.

arundhati not released even today…arundhati movie review

Image The much awaited movie ‘Arundhati’ has cancelled its release even today. The film was scheduled to release on 14th of this month but due to various technical reasons the movie hasn’t released even today. Yesterday it was said that the film is releasing on 15th but it may not happen even on 16th, say sources.

It is said that the perfectionist producer Shyam Prasad Reddy is working on graphics and special effects as he felt that the output should be better. Other sources are also raising doubts that there could be some financial hassles at the lab as Shyam Prasad Reddy made the film with whopping Rs 16 Cr and ended up in debts. Probably the financiers may demand for huge money to release the prints from lab, they say.  Indeed, Sankranthi season has gone and we may expect its release only off-the-season.

Let us wish the film comes out of troubles and stands a successful film.

First Indian to win Golden Globe Award-Pavan Survi

A R Rahman, a more media shy music director from India is now getting loud applaudes from all over the world. His background score in the Hollywood flick Slumdog Millionaire has been well appreciated by critics and now has been recognized by the Golden Globes awards as well.

He is the first Indian to win the prestigious Golden Globe Awards. On Sunday night A R Rahman became the first Indian to win this award.

He dedicated his award to the billion people of India. It is remarkably an underdog film which is sweeping all the awards.

His journey from Roja which was a trendsetter of that time to Slumdog Millionaire has been simply outstanding. He is been seen as a trendsetter in Indian music Industry. He has been credited with the current musical boom in the Industry.

Our team wishes him all the best for upcoming OSCARS.

SLUM DOG REVIEW

Danny Boyle has proven to be a wildly diverse director after dipping into the underbelly of Edinburgh in 1996, a zombie style virus in 2003, childhood fantasies in 2005 and an unfortunately overlooked sci-fi flick in 2007.

After all that he has managed to do it once again. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a coming-of-age story that manages to find originality through its main character, Jamal Malik, a boy we first meet at the age of 18, but soon get to know him through a variety of circumstances in his life that now has him on the verge of winning 20 million rupees on India’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” (lifted directly from KBC).

The film begins as we first meet Jamal as he is being tortured by the police. They are asking how he could have possibly known the answers to the questions on the show as they had to break the night before just as he was about to be asked the 20 million rupee question. “How could a slumdog know so much?” asks the police inspector played by Irfan Khan.

From that point on we watch the previous night’s show mixed with flashbacks as Jamal explains how he knew each answer. It’s a film that tells of the lessons and information we learn as we go through life and Jamal’s perspective can only be described as unique. His stories range from diving into an outhouse toilet hole so he can rush to get an autograph from Amitabh Bachchan, watching his mother die and the reason he ever even tried to get on “Millionaire” in the first place - love - and it is the guiding force behind this entire film.

Jamal is played by Dev Patel, who before this had only been seen on the UK TV show “Skins”. Patel is already earning supporting Oscar buzz for his performance and it is certainly deserved. Patel bounces from emotion to emotion. He is often seen closed off, shy and unassuming, but as the stories he tells gain in intensity a fire begins to well up inside of him.

However, Patel is not the only acting strong suit here. Playing Jamal at his youngest is Ayush Mahesh Khedekar and it was his performance that really sells the first half or so of this film. Jamal aged 18 is still quiet and a bit reserved, but in the flashbacks we see him bouncing around as a young boy with a heart of gold and it keeps the audience engaged in a story that really could have easily been deemed passé and forgotten at that point.

The genius of this film is Danny Boyle’s ability to bring attention to an area of the world many never see, all while telling a story of a young boy that grew up and ultimately managed to escape it and find love along the way. Without that unique little thread this film would have been long forgotten, but as it turns out that’s all it needed to go from mediocre to great. While the running time is a little long, you won’t care a lick as the final moments of this film are its very best, making the wait to get there all the more worthwhile.

Who would have ever thought a film with such a wild premise could catch the attention of so many audiences? It stormed the festival circuit and comes to theaters with very high aspirations as talk of Oscar Best Picture surround it. Anil Kapoor is excellent as the scheming host of the show, the film should catapult his career to dizzy heights. Newcomer Freida Pinto is good looking and promising. There are cameos by numerous popular faces of Bollywood, but we won’t spoil their for you.

You can’t help but compare every scene SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE to Vikas Swarup’s ‘Q and A’ and the transition is brilliant to behold. While the book had many a glum moments, Boyle strains all the melodrama and doles up a fresh, maddeningly sumptuous film. Music by A.R Rahman is marvelous and the breathtaking cinematography by Anthony Dod Mantle accentuates the energy of the tracks. ‘O Saya’ brings out the goosebumps and ‘Jai Ho’ that plays at the climax will have you dancing with glee. Simon Beaufoy has written a stunning adapted screenplay and will surely get the Oscar.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a must watch for movie buffs and the regular junta alike. One can’t afford to miss such fantastic entertainment. While we managed to catch the film in a different country, we can assure you that the Jan 15 release date in India would be a worthwhile wait.

nachavule movie review…..

Star Cast: Tanish, Madhavilatha, Kasi Vishwanath and others

Director: Allari Ravi Babu

Music: Sekhar Chandra

Nachavule Gallery

The film Nacchavule stars newcomers in the lead roles. The film is a simple, sensible and cute story about the life of a teenaged boy from birth to his first crush to his first girl friend and how he finds his true love.

Story:

Luva Kumar (Tanish) is the eldest son of middle class parents. He is a teenager and he also has a kid brother. Like all the boys of his age, he is also desperately looking to woo girls. He makes several attempts but fails all the time.

Lava Kumar finally manages to befriend a cute little girl Anu (Madhavilatha). Anu lives with his widowed father and she takes good care go him. She works in a coffee shop. Lava Kumar takes Anu’s father to a hospital when he suffers a heart attack and this timely helps saves his life.

Anu is indebted to him and so she agrees to his request of acting like his girlfriend for some time. Anu agrees but sets some conditions. The conditions are that Lava Kumar should not make any advances; he should not touch her and also not try any acts like kissing.

Luva Kumar uses the company of Anu to the hilt and slowly becomes a lover boy. But without realizing Anu slowly falls in love with him. Along the way Luva Kumar slowly turns into a Casanova. He starts neglecting Anu.

Luva Kumar captures Anu kissing him on his mobile. Lava Kumar’s brother steals the phone and sells it to a pawn broker. The MMS clip is soon on every mobile. Anu shuns Luva Kumar.

But the sudden death of Luva Kumar’s mother brings about a change in him. The rest of the story is how he gets back his love.

There are several twists and turns and there is also a villain Maddy who tries to foil Luva Kumar’s attempts at every stage.

Performance:

The guy who plays hero has done a neat job. He looks very convincing in his role of a teenager and his relationship with his parents has also been correctly captured.

The heroine is short but cute. She gives a good account of herself as a caring daughter and also as friend and lover.

Ravi Babu appears for a few second in a scene and he draws a huge response from the audience.

The other star cast does full justice to their roles.  The story is simple and the screenplay is also quite interesting. The film runs in a light hearted and entertaining manner in the first half.

It is only late into the second half that the film becomes a bit heavy with sentiment and revenge drama.

The music is good and the song ‘Padmavathi…Padmavathi…’ is interesting and appeals to the youngsters immensely.

The film will appeal to the teenagers immensely as it is a true depiction of the life of an average middle class teenager. Director Ravi Babu manages to weave a decent story and there is also a subtle but strong message in the end – children should look at life not from their own perspective but they should also try to look at life from the perspective of their parents.

Pavan Survi ..

Ushakiron Movies has the image of making decent films that can be watched by the entire family. Nacchavule lives up to this image.

Review: Fashion is a showstopper

re you ready for an expose on the fashion industry? Where designers pass off ‘Indira Market, Bangkok’ stuff as their own creation. Where ad agency/fashion mag honchos call the shots. Wild lifestyles, backstage dramas, wardrobe malfunction, casting couch… ouch, ouch, ouch!

Madhur Bhandarkar, the undisputed king of realistic fares, comes up with yet another hard-hitting film that enlightens you, moves you, motivates and deflates you, even shocks and surprises you and of course, entertains you.

The solid reason why FASHION works is because Madhur brings alive everything you’ve read in newspapers or watched on TV as an outsider, to the big screen. And that works and how!

But let’s not give the subject material all importance, for Madhur’s handling of the subject is exemplary. Madhur dresses up his mannequins well, but most importantly, infuses life in those prime bodies. A number sequences leave you tongue-tied [more on that later].

But there’s a hitch. And this problem tones down the impact considerably. The running tine of almost 2.40 hours makes you restless, especially the penultimate 25-odd minutes. Yet, all said and done, FASHION has all it takes to be the showstopper this Diwali!

FASHION tells the story of a small-town girl with a dream and the determination to make it a reality. Meghna [Priyanka Chopra] is ambitious, she wants to attain the status of a supermodel. She realises her dreams and rises to walk the ramps for leading designers across India.

But Meghna has to pay the price for her fame and her journey to the top. Her career starts sliding downwards. In this journey of Meghna, she encounters a number of people. Most importantly, Shonali [Kangna Ranaut] and Janet [Mugdha Godse]. Also, Abhijit Sareen [Arbaaz Khan], a tycoon who controls the fashion industry.

CHANDNI BAR, PAGE 3, SATTA, CORPORATE, TRAFFIC SIGNAL — every Madhur Bhandarkar film has a new story to tell and he tells it most convincingly. In fact, Madhur strikes a fine balance between realism and entertainment in every film. Given the fact that FASHION is all about the fashion industry, the narrative is inevitably filled with lots of glam-n-glitz moments. The fashion shows, the stunning models, the superb styling, the vibrant colours and the behind the scenes drama is worth every penny spent on the ticket.

But it’s not just ramp shows and style-n-fashion here. There’s a story running concurrently — of three models. One, the rise of an unknown into a supermodel. Two, the fall of a supermodel to dust. Three, the ambitious model not achieving success, but opting for a marriage of convenience.

While Madhur has handled the theme as if he were an insider, this review would be incomplete if you ignore two major sequences that are simply outstanding. One, Kangna’s wardrobe malfunction and two, when Priyanka exposes Arbaaz to his wife [Suchitra Pillai].

Mahesh Limaye’s cinematography captures every aspect of the fashion industry to the fullest. The screenplay [Madhur Bhandarkar, Anuradha Tiwari, Ajay Monga] is perfect, except for the penultimate portions. Niranjan Iyengar’s dialogues are fantastic. Nitin Chandrakant Desai’s production design is truly upmarket. The costumes and styling are top notch, a feast for the eyes. Salim-Sulaiman’s music is well synchronised as well. ‘Mar Jaava’ and ‘Jalwa’ are lilting creations.

Madhur places immense trust on Priyanka and she is remarkable all through, more towards the second hour. Post AITRAAZ, FASHION is another medal that shines the brightest when you look at her body of work. But the real star is Kangna. Her role may not be as lengthy as that of Priyanka, but the actress pitches in an awesome performance. Her confidence at the very start is infectious and her overall performance deserves an ovation.

Mugdha Godse is, again, supremely confident. She has dum. Arbaaz Khan is first-rate. Arjan Bajwa does well. Harsh Chhaya, the gay designer, stands out with a realistic performance. Ashwin Mushran, Priyanka’s confidante, is top notch. Samir Soni is good. Suchitra Pillai and Kittu Gidwani are effectual. Raj Babbar and Kiran Juneja are seasoned in such roles.

On the whole, FASHION has tremendous curiosity value and also shock value for the Indian audiences. Its subject — the behind the scenes working and drama of the fashion industry — is its USP. At the box-office, the pre-release hype and buzz will ensure a successful run for the film. Its business at multiplexes mainly should be bountiful. However, trimming the film will only help; not only will it enhance the film, but also its business. Must watch!

Character Sketch

Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra)
A small town girl whose strength, determination, and feisty spirit causes her to journey far from home. Meghna Mathur is an elusive combination of beauty and intelligence. She aspires to be a part of the fashion world. She knows that she has what it takes to become a supermodel and will pursue it to the ends of the earth. She also has the added advantage of in-built self esteem and a sense of morality and will not compromise on her dignity. But how can that attitude balance with her driving ambition to get to the top? Meghna will fall prey to the trappings of fame. Will she rise from the fall?

Shonali (Kangana Ranaut)
Shonali Gujral is the reigning model on the runway and an icon for Meghna to aspire to. However, Shonali is also a victim of the choices she has made. She bears the consequences of a steep rise to fame and fortune without a resolute backbone when the weight got unbearable. Shonali is the poster child for glamour and for self-destruction. Famous, envied, lost and confused she is a prisoner in a world, which will be her ultimate downfall.

Janet (Mugdha Godse)
Janet is the tough talking girl with a heart of gold, who becomes Meghna’s best friend. A model who may not have reached the heights of Shonali and yet remains more carefree as she lives life by her own terms with no demons or regrets. Anything goes with Janet. She seems like she has made a deal with life - ‘You keep me alive and I’ll walk about with a smile on my face.’ But Janet has something the others who survive like her don’t: She has a heart. She values the importance of a family. And she knows that you can find love in the strangest places.

Rahul Arora (Sameer Soni)
Designer extraordinaire and a visionary talent amongst young Indian designers, Rahul makes no compromises with both his fashion designs and his lifestyle. He is the crowned king of the runway, the lead designer for the powerhouse brand Panache and his creations are adored by the glitterati. However, the approval he most seeks is that of his mother - who seems to ignore all his achievements for the wish that he would settle down into marriage and domesticity. As a leading light in the fashion fraternity - how will he balance family obligations with the demands of his profession and lifestyle?

Abhijit Sarin (Arbaaz Khan)
A powerful business tycoon who owns one half of the fashion industry and extends influence over the other half - Sarin is the perfect example of when creativity meets commerce. Known as the man with the midas touch, through his clothing and retail giant Panache - Sarin has nurtured many talented designers including Rahul Arora and has the ability to be an image-maker. A business magnate who is used to getting his own way - he meets his match in the young Meghna Mathur.

Anisha Roy (Kitu Gidwani)
A former beauty queen, Anisha Roy runs the most successful modeling agency in Mumbai - Profile - India’s answer to Elite. She is a tough as nails business woman who has a keen eye for spotting talent and molding it into a success story. Among the important regular clients are Panache for whom she has discovered many talented models. She knows everyone in the business and everyone wants to know her as they know how far she can get them.

Maanav (Arjan Bajwa)
As one of the thousands of talented hopefuls that travel to Mumbai hoping to make it big as a model in the industry, Maanav is one such aspirant. He befriends Meghna during their early days as struggling models and proves to be a loyal supporter throughout as their friendship blossoms. Despite temptations, Maanav has a strong set of values that will not allow him to take the quick and easy route to the top through compromise, a trait that Meghna comes to value.

Synopsis

Fashion, this tells the story of one small town girl with a dream and the determination to make it a reality. Meghna Mathur knew that she was meant to be famous. Ever ambitious and bright with stars in her eyes, even as a girl with a conservative background, she dared to dream of bright lights and the big city. The world of fashion - the clothes, the colors, the make-up, all of these form a part of the fascinating world that Meghna has longed to be a part of. She reaches the peak of her success and rises to walk the ramps for leading designers across India. The fashion world lies at her feet - the parties, the brand endorsements, the photographers, the models, the romance and of course - the shows, the shows, the shows!

However, karma catches up with Meghna as she slowly starts to pay the price for her fame and her journey to the top. Her attempt at a comeback was going to be a near impossibility but she was never a woman to turn away from a challenge. “Fashion” explores the world of style through the emotional personal journey of the key people that make the industry, the dream-weavers of that elaborate world of glamour: the models, designers, photographers, businessmen, agencies etc.

KBL:Entertaining And Touching-Pavan Survi

Film: Kotha Bangaru Lokam
Rating: 3.5/5

Sri Venkateswara creations
Cast: Varun Sandesh, Shweta, Prakashraj, Ahuti Prasad, Jayasudha, Brahmanandam, Rao Ramesh, Vinay Prasad and others
Music : Mickie J Meyer
Cinematography: Chota K Naidu
Editing: Martand K Venkatesh
Story, Screenplay, Dialogue, Director: Srikanth Addala
Producer: ‘Dil’ Raju
Release date: 09/10/2008

It’s a teenage love story retold on silver screen of Tollywood but in different fashion. Let us see how the difference is felt.

Story:
Balu (Varun) finds the beautiful girl Swapna (Swetha) in his college and falls in love at first sight. The love reciprocation from Swapna also holds positive and the saga continues for some time till that gets revealed to the principal of the college.

Swapna’s father (Ahuti Prasad) knows about the love story and makes his daughter sit at home and study. On the other side, Balu too will go to home. He keeps on attempting to hunt for the hereabouts of Swapna along with his friends.

What happens to Balu who went into deep love with Swapna. Will they unite again? That forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Varun Sandesh did his best in his first solo flick. But still he needs to work on his diction. Expressions wise he scored well.

New actress Swaetha Basu Prasad has aptly grooved in the role of teenage girl. She did her best but eventually she may settle down in sister roles than that of heroine due to her height constraint and no-oomph levels.

Ahuti Prasad entertained well with his dialogue delivery that reminds of his role in Chandamama. Prakash Raj is ok in his father role that’s reserved and Jayasudha is apt in her mother role. She looks younger when compared to her previous films.

Brahmanandam couldn’t spill any laughs due to the serious role given for him.

Coming to technical departments, music stands outstanding and while cinematography deserves right mention. Editing suffered little hiccups in second half. The director Srikanth Addala dished out a sensible film that stands to be an attention puller.

Best Parts:
Wrist watch sentiment
Ahuti Prasad’s diction
Lyrical beauty
Music
Dialogues
Story Line
Message
Entertainment

Songs:
All the songs sounded the best and the number ‘Confusion…confusion..’ was shot exhaustively in Rajahmundry exploiting the locations Godavari Bridge, Devi Chowk, Pushkar Ghat, Asoka Talkies, Mallikarjuna Swamy temple and many more. Out of the routine Hyderabad and Vizag, it proves to be a new treat for the eyes with Rajahmundry.

Nijamga Nenenaa..was canned in average style. It could have been better.

‘Nenani Neevani..’ is touching to eyes as well. The montage song ‘Nee Prasnalu neevi’ is also average but situationally fitting.

‘Kalasaalalo..’ is pictured in interesting fashion.

Analysis:
It’s a movie for teens in precise, entertainment lovers to be particular and all Telugu audiences on a whole. The tender intermediate age and its ectopic beats are rightly brought on to the celluloid with life in it. It cannot be compared to ‘Chitram’ or ‘Bommarillu’ in direct terms but holds uniqueness in clarity of thought and expression by the director on those standards.

The conviction in drama hasn’t missed. The tangles in the plot are rightly unknotted at last. The balance of practicality and creative freedom is seen on a whole. The movie stands out to be the best for A class audiences and youngsters in all centers.

First half of the movie and second half go interesting while sentiment dominates the latter. The story line is old but the way of expression made all the difference.

There are no movies from big four stars these days. And Venkatesh’s ‘Chintakayala Ravi’ grabbed the attention of many because of that. Let us see how the film tuned with the expectations.

The movie starts with the voice over of Prakash Raj that introduces the characters and characterizations.

Story:
Chintakayala Ravi (Venkatesh) is an age bar guy who lands in USA and works in a bar as waiter. But he bluffs his parents (Lakshmi and Chandramohan) those live in his native village saying that he is working as a software engineer. Ravi’s mother looks out for a bride and finds Mamidikayala Lavanya (Mamatha Mohandas), the daughter of a strict landlord (Shinde). Lavanya agrees to marry Ravi learning that he is SW engineer. But Ravi develops strife with Sunitha (Anushka), a girl in USA who happens to be Lavanya’s friend. She reveals the secret of Ravi to Lavanya saying that he is a waiter in bar but not SW engineer. The engagement between Lavanya and Ravi gets cancelled with that. How things settle down at the end forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Venkatesh’s screen presence is good and his energy levels have to save the movie on a whole. But he has to take care while acting in some nasty scenes in the name of comedy.

There is no big scope for Anushka and Mamatha Mohandas to give out performance and they are just ok in their roles.

Lakshmi continued her over active sentimental performance that she delivered in Murari.

Sunil’s comedy is boring and bears no new energy. Master Bharat appears in a few scenes but his part is very limited to bring sufficient laughs in theaters.

Ali’s Nachmi comedy is continued from ‘Chirutha’ which is not appealing.

Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav also failed to bring right kind of laughs.

The main reason for all this is weak script. It appears that the dialogues are written in hurry without considering the punch aspect.

Ajay’s character is pale and the growing artiste of his caliber need not have done such unimportant role.

Coming to technical aspects, the lip sink of Anushka is missing in her introduction scene. Cinematography is good but still would have been better. Music is not haunting though a couple of songs are good at beat.

Direction falls below the average line. Director would have taken care of screenplay and also would have considered the importance of scenes he made. Production values are good as the film was made in USA but how far that is required for the story and narration of this standard has to be noted.

On A Whole:
Dialogues- ‘Poor’
Screenplay- ‘Dull’
Music- ‘Average’
NTR’s presence in song- ‘interest booster’

Analysis:
It’s an attempt to make it a right mix of mass and class elements but end up as an oddly flavored concoction.

Many scenes were blatantly lifted from Hindi film ‘Hum Tum’ in second half. And the most popular ‘Om Shanti Om’ BGM is also used many times.

The popularly forwarded ‘Kitikeelu 2008’ (the terms of Windows 2008 translated in Telugu) is used as a comedy scene in this film but that turned pale with no laughs.

And Venkatesh’s scene of copying in exams is lifted from Mr Bean comedy. Originality is missing in large part of the movie.

The first half was dealt with some lighter moments and second half turned heavy with easily guessed climax and routine dialogues without any punch or energy.

The movie runs only on the energy levels of Venkatesh. It is true that audiences could watch the movie with interest only because of Venkatesh. But is he projecting himself in right sense with the characters he is doing in recent times? That sits as a big question in many heads. It is known that Venkatesh is known for sentimental films and piteous climax scenes right from films like ‘Raja’. Adding to that these days he seems to have building up his trade mark by nasty comedy. The nauseate comedy that was scene in Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule (sitting to shit etc) is followed here as well. That would certainly keep a large set of audiences especially families in inconvenience. The first day audiences among masses also expressed their disgust for seeing their favorite star acting in such rotten scenes. And another aspect is Venkatesh has continued his trade mark ‘pant-less scene’ that was started way back since ‘Preminchukundam Raa’.

On a whole, it’s a movie that has to stand at the AP box office due to long weekend as there are not other big star movies in vie. But as per the material, the movie is beneath the expectations.

Beaten Story And Obsolete Narration

Film: Rainbow
Rating: 2/5

Cast: Rahul, Sonali Chouhan, Dharmavarapu, Prakash Raj, Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao, SS Rajamouli, Sindhu Menon, Samudra, Kodi Rama Krishna, Deekshit etc
Editing: MR Varma
Camera: Santhosh Srinivas
Music: Nihal
Screenplay, Direction: VN Aditya
Released On: 2nd October 2008

Story:
Shyam aka Shyamala Rao (Rahul) is a professional hoarding painter of a painting company. Swapna (Sonali Chouhan) is an aspiring actress. Shyam likes Swapna and he helps her lot to achieve her dream. When a producer attempts to molest Swapna, Shyam fights with him and gets injured. In later diagnosis it will be known that Shyam got affected by color blindness due to that injury. Hence he becomes unable to see any color except white and black. And Shyam, being an orphan, lives in the house of Kamala (Sindhu Menon), who is dumb by birth. She loves Shyam. Finally how this triangle love story ends? Who marries whom? That forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Rahul did a completely different role from that of ‘Happy Days’. He needs to work hard on expressions and body language.

Sonali Chouhan is ok with respect to face value but as per physique she is looking like a patient with zero-voluptuousness.

Sindhu Menon looked well on screen.

Prakash Raj’s presence didn’t elevate the range of the movie due to poor background score and energy-less character. Theatre Deekshit appeared with real life name. Same is the case with SS Rajamouli who acted as a professional actor in real life role for quite long time.

Coming to technical departments the only saving grace in the film is cinematography, music and lyrics. Editing is average and direction is poor. Direction also suffered some ups and downs.

Direction Mistake:
The first producer who gives an opportunity to the heroine asks her to come to ‘Touch’ Pub. But she comes to ‘Bottles and Chimneys’ and the entire scene was shot there. VN Aditya didn’t bother about the B & C that appeared prominently on the door heroine opens to come in.

Analysis:
There is no gripping narration in this film. And there is nothing new in this story line. Already we have watched the major part of this film in Rangeela, some part in Swarna Kamalam and some bits and pieces in other films. The only best part of the movie is music and lyrics. This film has given out the best music in recent times.

First half of the movie goes very boring and the back ground score kills the interest levels of audiences completely. The first few minutes go like a B-Grade film and some part of the second half goes like an award nominee film. There is no direct relation between the much publicized hero’s color blindness and the story part.

The only relief here is to watch the comedy generated by Siva Reddy for some time and the lengthy role of SS Rajamouli. Samudra, Kodi Rama Krishna and Srinu Vaitla appeared in guest roles in real life roles. Late Mallikarjuna Rao also appeared in guest appearance for a couple of minutes.

The film has very less scope to stand successful at the box office. The budget incurred on the film also is also big. On a whole, the plight of this film, as the result can be expected, can be attributed in big way to director and the back ground scorer.
